21 New Hybrids for 2006
David Hingst, President
A broad base of new genetics is being introduced for all traits marketed by Hoegemeyer and Triton Genetics™. Twenty-one new hybrids may seem overwhelming, but let's break them down.
HBt585, 9191, 590LL and 9311
The early hybrid lineup of 98- to 104-day maturity has four new hybrids; all have Liberty® herbicide tolerance and three have insect protection. Triton Genetics offers 9191 and 9311, which will bring choices for the grower who is looking for 104-day and earlier Herculex® I Insect Protection hybrids. 9191 is targeted more for South Dakota environments and 9311 for northwest Iowa and north central Nebraska. Both should remain companions to 9224, with 604LL as the refuge hybrid and the new Hoegemeyer 590LL, which has
the same base genetics as 9191. Hoegemeyer also offers HBt585 as a 98-day hybrid for early maturity areas, which provides Agrisure™ Corn Borer
protection and Liberty tolerance.
9351, HBt630, 5362LL and 9372
We have also added strength to the 105- to 108-day maturity range, with HBt630 from Hoegemeyer and 9351, 5362LL and 9372 from Triton Genetics. When coupled with the existing hybrids we offer, this is the broadest range of genetics we have ever been able to offer in this maturity. 5362LL is a Liberty herbicide tolerant hybrid and is the base genetics for the 9372. 5362LL, 9372 and 9351 all offer good tolerance to high pH soils and excellent ear flex. HBt630 will respond to high populations and has performed well in small plots in northwest Iowa.
HBt636, 2640, HBt642, 5668 and 9515
Moving to the 108- to 112-day range, Hoegemeyer offers a new conventional hybrid (2640) and a new Agrisure Corn Borer hybrid (HBt642). These two share the same base genetics and represent an improved type of genetics that we sold previously, which provided excellent drought stress and had the best performance in moderate yield environments. Hoegemeyer is also excited to offer HBt636 for high yielding, high management environments. 5668 is another Liberty herbicide tolerant hybrid from the Triton Genetics brand. This hybrid is agronomically strong and offers itself as a refuge hybrid for fuller season, insect-tolerant trait hybrids. 9515 is a show hybrid for field days that is strongest when used east of U.S. 81.
9777, HBt710 and 9896
Triton Genetics 9777 will compete very nicely with our established 9679 hybrid. This choice has more top end yield potential with slightly less plant health. We also have HBt710 and 9896 in the lineup for the full season market. Our 2005 plot results have already proven these hybrids at the top of the stack for full season corn. All of these products
provide insect protection and Liberty tolerance.
Full season corn growers will find these products
complement our full season lineup.
Roundup Ready Hybrids from the Hughes Brand distributed by Hoegemeyer
A strong hybrid of 4104RR/4105RRBt is offered in the 102-day maturity range. The base genetics of these products are used in 604LL and 9224, so we have an established track record of excellent agronomics for these types of genetics. In the
111-day maturity, we have added 5770RRBt to complement 5766RR. This new hybrid brings more yield to the white cob type of genetics. On the full season side, we offer 7701RR/7702RRBt. These new full season hybrids offer improved yield potential with new genetics.
